  • Set Processes Priority

Follow this tip to increase the priority of active processes, this will result in prioritisation of processes using the CPU.
CTRL-SHIFT-ESC
Go to the second tab called Processes, right click on one of the active processes, you will see the Set Priority option

  • Shutdown Trick !

while shutting down window. open task manager(Ctr+Alt+Del),
Select shut down tab. and press ' Ctrl ' key while select Turn Off from dis tab.
Count 5 4 3 2 1 Voila!!! U r window will rapidly shut down.

  • lock pc just by double clicking mouse


You can lock your XP workstation with two clicks of the mouse. Create a new shortcut on your desktop using a right mouse click,
and enter 'rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation' in the location field.
Give the shortcut a name you like. That's it -- just
double click on it and your computer will be locked.
And if that's not easy enough, Windows key + L will do the same.

  • Remove Stored username and Passwords !


To remove the Stored User Names and Passwords from your system, try this:
Click Start, Run and type Control keymgr.dll
Remove the entries from the list.
The other ways to access this dialog are:
Type Control Userpasswords2 in RUN box, click Advanced, Manage Passwords.

  • Disabling Display of Drives in My Computer :

This is yet another trick you can play on your geek friend. To disable the display of local or networked drives when you click My Computer go to : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer Now in the right pane create a new DWORD item and name it NoDrives. Now modify it's value and set it to 3FFFFFF (Hexadecimal) Now press F5 to refresh. When you click on My Computer, no drives will be shown. To enable display of drives in My Computer, simply delete this DWORD item. It's .reg file is as follows: REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explore r] "NoDrives"=dword:03ffffff

  • change fat -> ntfs

To change ur File system from command prompt
type: convert c:/fs:ntfs(ex:'c' is the drive letter)


  • How to detect viruses easily

i am going to tell you about a trick to detect viruses in your computer. It is simple and fast. Just follow the steps below:

1-  Go to start-run-command

2-  Write cd.. (notice the tow dots) and press enter

write cd.. (again) and press enter

3-  Write (cd windows) and press enter

4-  Write (cd system32) and press enter

5-  Write (setup) and enter

 If you get that message

(Please switch to the control panel to install components and systems composition)

Then that means your pc is clean.

The idea here is the (setup) file which is located within (system32) is shut down when your pc infected and open when your pc is not infected because most viruses shut down all system.exe extensions.

  • Hiding a Folder in a Different Way !

  1. This can only be done in the desktop so create a folder in the desktop.  

  2. Then right clcik on the rename and press alt+0160

  3. The you would see that the file name dissapears (this cannot be done normally)

  4. Now its time to change the icon for that you can to do almost the samething as the previous one.

  5. Right click on the file and click properties.

  6. Then click the customize tab and click change icon

  7. The scroll till you find a blank icon .

  8. Then select it and save .

  9. Refresh the desktop and its done.



  • Performance Increase Through My Computer


Start > right-click on My Computer and select Properties.

Click on the "Advanced" tab.

See the "Performance" section? Click "Settings".

Disable the following:

Fade or slide menus into view

Fade or slide ToolTips into view

Fade out menu items after clicking

Show Shadows under menus

Slide open combo boxes

Slide taskbar buttons

Use a background image for each folder type

Use common tasks in folders

There, now Windows will still look nice and perform faster


  • Turn Off Auto play for Program CDs


Click Start, click Run, type GPEDIT.MSC to open Group Policy in the Microsoft Management Console.

Double-click Computer Configuration, double-click Administrative templates, double-click System, and then click Turn off autoplay.

The instructions on your screen describe how to configure this setting. Click Properties to display the setting dialog.

Click Enabled, and choose CD-ROM drives, then click OK, to stop CD autoplay.

This setting does not prevent Autoplay for music CDs.


  • Disable USB Drives

Just open regedit and browse to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UsbStor

Notice the value 'Start'

Switch this value to 4, and USB storage devices are disabled.

Switch this value to 3, and USB storage devices are enabled.

  • How To Lock a Folder Using Notepad


1) Consider you want to lock a folder named caclub in your f:\, whose path is f:\caclub

2) Now open the Notepad and type the following

ren caclub caclub.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30 309D}

3) Where caclub is your folder name. Save the text file as loc.bat in the same drive.

4) Open another new notepad text file and type the following

ren caclub.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30 309D} caclub

5) Save the text file as unloc.bat in the same drive.

6) To lock the caclub folder, simply click the loc.bat and it will transform into control panel icon which is inaccessible.
7) To unlock the folder click the unloc.bat file. Thus the folder will be unlocked and the contents are accessible.


  • Disabling My Computer


In areas where you are trying to restrict what users can do on the computer, it might be beneficial to disable the ability to click on My Computer and have access to the drives, control panel etc.
To disable this:
1.Open RegEdit

2.Search for 20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D

3.This should bring you to the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID section

4.Delete the entire section.

Now when you click on My Computer, nothing will happen.
You might want to export this section to a Registry file before deleting it just in case you want to enable it again. Or you can rename it to 20D0HideMyComputer4FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D. You can also hide all the Desktop Icons, see Change/Add restrictions.



  • Disabling Drives in My Computer


To turn off the display of local or networked drives when you click on My Computer:
1.Open RegEdit

2.Go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Policies\ Explorer

3.Add a New DWORD item and name it NoDrives

4.Give it a value of 3FFFFFF

5.Now when you click on My Computer, none of your drives will show.


  • No Shutdown


Wanna play with your friends by removing the shutdown option from start menu in their computer.

1.Go to start->run.Type regedit.Now go to:

Now in the right pane
create a new DWORD item and name it NoDrives (it is case sensitive).
Now modify it's value and set it to 3FFFFFF (Hexadecimal) .
Now restart your Computer.
So, now when you click on My Computer, no drives will be shown(all gone...).

To enable display of drives in My Computer, simply delete this DWORD item that you created.Again restart your Computer.You can now see all the drives again. Magic.......
